Presidential Address
On behalf of the Global Society for Neurological Restoration (GSNR) and the GCNR 2027 Organising Committee, it is my distinct privilege to welcome you to the 18th Annual Global Congress on Neurological Restoration, taking place in the culturally rich and vibrant capital of Madrid, Spain, from 14–17 October 2027.
Our field is undergoing a profound paradigm shift. For decades, the central nervous system was viewed as an immunologically privileged organ, isolated from the body's protective systems. Today, we stand on a new frontier—one where we recognise that the immune system is not an enemy to be suppressed, but a key ally. Under this year's core theme, 'Synaptic Frontiers: Harnessing Immunology for Neural Repair', we will explore the intricate dialogues between neuroimmunology, synaptic plasticity, bioelectronic medicine, and stem cell biology...
With warmest regards,
Microglia phenotypes modulation, cytokine-traps, anti-inflammatory CSF systems, and blood-brain barrier restoration therapies.
Axon pathfinding, cell-based scaffold seeding, olfactory ensheathing glia culturing, and target-directed central nerve rebuilding.
Organic polymer arrays, advanced brain-machine interfaces (BMIs), and cytokine-gated biofeedback spinal stimulators.

Academic Biography & Scope
Prof. Clara Sterling is a pioneer in microglia-mediated synaptic pruning and target-driven neuroimmunotherapy. Over the past twenty years, her research group has decoded how glial cells guide axonal pathfinding and synaptic stability. Her keynote lecture at GCNR 2027 will address therapeutic microglia modulation as a tool for synaptic rebuilding in progressive degenerative diseases.
